USNISA VIJAYA (NUMGYALMA)
MANTRA: OM DHRUM SOHA OM AMRITA AYUR DADE SOHA
Namgyälma is a revered female Bodhisattva known for her association with long life and purification. She is depicted with three faces and eight arms, and is especially venerated as a powerful deity who grants longevity and removes karmic defilements. Her mantra is considered to have immeasurable spiritual benefits. It is believed to be so potent that any being who hears it will never again be born from the womb—this means even animals who hear the mantra will be freed from rebirth in the lower realms.
The purpose of Namgyälma’s mantra or dharani is to assist sentient beings in navigating a troubled and chaotic world. According to the corresponding sutra, the mantra brings immense blessings:
Liberates beings from suffering and brings happiness.
Increases prosperity and longevity.
Removes karmic obstacles, disasters, and enmity.
Fulfills wishes and leads beings quickly toward the path of Buddhahood.
Some traditions teach that when this dharani is heard, it plants pure seeds in the ālaya consciousness (storehouse consciousness), supporting future progress toward enlightenment.
